Set up a Siri-enabled accessory
You can extend access to HomePod throughout your home by enabling Siri on compatible smart home accessories. “Hey Siri” can be enabled on these accessories so you can control them with your voice, get help with everyday questions or tasks and play your favourite music and podcasts.
Before you begin, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS, or update your iPad to the latest version of iPadOS. Make sure that your iPhone or iPad has Bluetooth® turned on, and that your iPhone or iPad and HomePod are both connected to the Wi-Fi network that you want your accessory to use.
Note: Music and podcast playback on Siri-enabled accessories is currently a beta feature.
Add an accessory and enable Siri
Go to the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap , then tap Add Accessory.
Scan a setup code, or hold iPhone near the accessory and tap the accessory in the Nearby Accessories list.
Tap Set Up and follow the onscreen instructions.
Under Speak to Siri tap Turn On to enable Siri on the accessory.
Tap Use Personal Requests to allow the accessory to perform Personal Requests using HomePod and a nearby iPhone or iPad.
You can now make personal requests directly to your Siri-enabled accessory.
Note: HomePod must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network in order to access Siri from the accessory. Personal Requests also require a nearby iPhone or iPad.
Siri cannot be enabled on an accessory if another intelligent assistant is already enabled on that device.
To configure settings on an accessory see Change HomePod settings.
