MacBook Neo Antenna
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following part before you begin:
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
Antenna tool
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick) (optional)
Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)
Torx Plus 3IP 44 mm half-moon bit
Torx Plus 5IP 50 mm bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the 3IP screw (923-14183) from the antenna coaxial cable connector cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

Use the antenna tool to lift the end of one antenna coaxial cable off the connector. Repeat this step on the other antenna coaxial cable.

Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the four 5IP screws (923-14178) from the antenna.

Lift the antenna out of the top case.

Reassembly
Position the antenna in the top case.

Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to reinstall the two outer 5IP screws (923-14178) into the antenna.


Use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to reinstall the two inner 5IP screws (923-14178) into the antenna.


Position the ends of the antenna coaxial cables over the connectors. Use the blunt end of the antenna tool to press the ends of the antenna coaxial cables to the connectors.
Note: You may need to use a black stick or ESD-safe tweezers to align the ends of the antenna coaxial cables over the connectors.

Position the antenna coaxial cable connector cowling over the ends of the antenna coaxial cables.
Use the blue torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall the 3IP screw (923-14183) into the antenna coaxial cable connector cowling.
