Print images and PDFs
When printing an image or a PDF document with ColorSync Utility, you can choose advanced options for managing the document’s colors, or you can print the document without any color management.
Choose File > Open, then select an image or PDF document.
When the file opens, choose File > Print, then click Show Details.
Click the Color pop-up menu, then choose an option:
Prematch to printer profile: Controls the color management of the printed output.
Hand off to printer: Lets the printer control the color management of the printed output.
Print as color target: Prints the document without any color management. This option is available only if the document uses the same color space as the printer; for example, you’re printing an RGB document on an RGB printer.
If you chose “Prematch to printer profile,” then choose an option from the Intent pop-up menu:
Automatic: Uses the default intent.
Perceptual: Applies realistic-looking colors, useful for photographs.
Relative Colorimetric: Maintains color accuracy, when specific colors are required, for example, logos.
Saturation: Maintains the vividness of colors, useful for graphics such as pie charts and bar graphs.
Absolute Colorimetric: Adjusts the colors to account for the differences in white points.
