Access controls for subtitles and audio

You can turn on subtitles or closed captioning (if available) in the Apple TV app.

1. During playback in the Apple TV app, show playback controls.

2. Select , then choose a subtitles option from the list.

   Tip: To change how the subtitle appears, select Style, then choose the style you prefer, or choose Manage Styles to customize your subtitles and captions.

When you skip backward during playback, subtitles are turned on for 10–30 seconds so you can catch up on dialogue you may have missed.

1. During playback in the Apple TV app, do one of the following:

   • TV or living room device: Press left on the remote for each 10-second increment, up to three times for 30 seconds.

   • iPhone, iPad, or Android device: Tap the screen, then tap for each 10-second increment, up to three times for 30 seconds.

   • Mac or Windows computer: Move the pointer over the video, then tap for each 10-second increment, up to three times for 30 seconds.

During playback in the Apple TV app, do one of the following:

• TV or living room device: Press the Mute button on the remote.

• iPhone, iPad, or Android device: Tap the screen, then tap for each 10-second increment, up to three times for 30 seconds.

• Mac or Windows computer: Move the pointer over the video, then drag the onscreen volume slider all the way down, or press the mute button on your keyboard.

1. During playback in the Apple TV app, show playback controls.

2. Do one of the following:

   • TV, living room device, Android device, Mac, or Windows computer: Select , then choose a different option such as a different language or a track with audio descriptions (AD).

   • iPhone or iPad: Tap , tap Enhance Dialogue, then choose Enhance More to make dialogue very prominent in the mix, Enhance to make dialogue more prominent in the mix, or Off to turn off Enhance Dialogue.
