Set the default reminder list on Mac
The default reminder list is the one in which new reminders are placed in certain instances. For example, if you’re looking at the Today Smart List and create a new reminder, it gets placed in the default reminder list. The types of new reminders placed in the default list include the following:
Reminders created in the Today, Scheduled, or Flagged Smart Lists
Reminders created in a custom Smart List
Reminders created in another app
Reminders from a FaceTime call you declined and set a callback reminder for
Reminders created with Siri
When you first open the Reminders app, the list named Reminders is set as the default list. You can choose a different default reminder list.
Choose the default reminder list
In the Reminders app on your Mac, choose Reminders > Settings.
Click the Default List pop-up menu, then choose a list.
If there’s no default list
Certain types of reminder lists can’t be used as the default list. For example, if the only list you have is a shared list, it isn’t automatically used as the default list.
If you see a message that says you don’t have a default list, you may need to create a new reminder list to use as the default list.
