Screen and block calls in the Phone app on Mac
You can avoid unwanted calls by identifying callers, blocking certain people, and sending unknown and spam callers directly to voicemail.
Go to the Phone app
on your Mac.
Choose Phone > Settings, then do any of the following:
Block voice calls, FaceTime calls, and messages from certain people: Click Blocked, then click
to add contacts to your Blocked list.
Unblock a blocked caller: Click Blocked, then click
to remove contacts from your Blocked list.
Send unknown callers to voicemail: Click Calls, then select Unknown Callers. You get notifications for calls from people in your contacts, recent outgoing calls, and Siri Suggestions.
Screen or silence unknown callers: Click Calls, then select whether to ask unknown callers the reason for calling or to silence unknown callers.
If you choose to screen unknown callers, calls from unsaved numbers are automatically answered without interrupting you. Once the caller shares their name and reason for their call, the Phone app rings and you can decide if you want to pick up.
