Access Home accessories while away from your Mac
If you have an Apple TV (4th generation or later), HomePod mini, or HomePod, or if you set up an iPad (with iOS 10.3 or later, or with iPadOS) that you leave at home, you can use remote access. The Apple TV, HomePod mini, HomePod, or iPad acts as a home hub, which allows remote access to your accessories.
Important: iPad isn’t supported as a home hub on the new Home architecture, which is more reliable and efficient. See the Apple Support article Upgrade to the new Home architecture.
For information about setting up remote access and allowing remote access for other users, see the Apple Support articles Set up your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub and Share control of your home.
Note: You can’t set up remote access from the Home app on your Mac.
