Share your movies from QuickTime Player on Mac

When you share your movie, QuickTime Player creates a version of the movie that’s optimized for how you choose to share.

Open QuickTime Player for me

  1. In the QuickTime Player app on your Mac, open the movie.

  2. Choose File > Share (or click the Share button in the playback controls), then choose how you want to share your movie:

    • Mail: The movie is added to a new email message in the Mail app.

    • Messages: The movie is added to a new message in the Messages app.

    • AirDrop: When you choose AirDrop, QuickTime Player lists nearby people who are using AirDrop. Click the users you want to share with. If AirDrop isn’t listed, your computer doesn’t support it.

    • Notes: Enter text to create a new note with the movie, or select an existing note to add the movie to.

    • Add to Photos: The movie is added to your Photos library.

    • YouTube: If you have a YouTube account, you can upload a movie to YouTube.

To set up additional sharing options, click the Share button in the playback controls, click More, then select extensions for the Share Menu in the Extensions System Preferences pane.
