Verifiable Health Records support
If your organization makes verifiable health records available to your patients through FHIR API integration with the SMART Health Cards standard, your patients see verifiable health records downloaded with the “Verified” checkmark in the Health app. Verifiable health records currently include COVID vaccine records and lab result records. Contact your EHR vendor to find out if it supports the SMART Health Cards standard.
You can opt out if you do not want your patients to receive their verifiable health records in digital form. If you opt out, the vaccine and lab result records that your patients download won’t include the “Verified” checkmark in the Health app, and your patients won’t be able to share these records with third parties.
To opt out, do the following:
Go to the FHIR API Profile screen for the endpoint.
Click Actions at the top right, then click Opt-out (below Verifiable Health Records).
Note: If your organization makes QR code-based vaccine cards available, patients can continue using the QR code to download their vaccine cards even after you opt out.
To opt in again so that the “Verified” checkmark reappears on COVID 19 vaccine records and lab results, return to the FHIR API Profile screen, click Action, then click Opt-in.
