Before You Begin
Warning

Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
Crosshead 44 mm half-moon bit
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (gray, 0.55 kgf cm)
Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)
Torque driver (teal, 0.75 kgf cm)

Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Important
Complete display removal steps 1 through 5. Then continue to step 1.
Use a torque driver and the crosshead bit to remove nine crosshead screws. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.
Remove two crosshead screws, one from the battery connector cowling and one from the display connector cowling.
Remove seven crosshead screws from the bottom speaker.
Note: The screw closest to the USB-C connector is located on the sidewall of the enclosure.
Remove the battery and display connector cowlings and save them for reassembly.
Remove the USB-C flex cable cowling and save it for reassembly.
Lift the end of the battery flex cable off the connector.
Caution: You must disconnect the battery flex cable first to ensure that the iPhone remains turned off.
Lift the ends of the display flex cable and ambient light sensor flex cable off the connectors.
Hold the display by the edges. Pull the tabs on the suction cups to release them from the display. Then set the display facedown on a clean, flat surface.
Gently lift the bottom speaker out of the enclosure.
- Caution: Don’t damage the grounding clips on the bottom speaker. If the grounding clips are damaged, replace the bottom speaker.
Reassembly

Ensure that the speaker port and speaker well are undamaged and free of debris.
- Caution: Debris in the speaker port and speaker well may affect sound quality.
Align the bottom speaker with the speaker port as you lower it into position.
Position the USB-C flex cable cowling between the bottom speaker and USB-C flex cable as shown.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 14.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and crosshead bit to install two new crosshead screws (923-15895) (H2, H3) into the bottom speaker.
Set the torque value on the adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and crosshead bit to install two new crosshead screws (923-15897) (H5, H6) into the bottom speaker.
Use the teal torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-15896) (H4) into the bottom speaker.
Use the blue torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-15894) (H1) into the upper right corner of the bottom speaker.
Use the gray torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-15898) (J1) into the bottom speaker.
Note: The screw is located on the sidewall of the enclosure.
