Protect your journal entries
In the Journal app on Mac, you can protect your entries with encrypted backups and more.
Keep your entries up to date with iCloud
Your entries — and any changes you make to them — appear on your iPhone, iPad and Mac where you’re signed in to the same Apple Account.
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click your name, then click iCloud.
Click See All, then turn on Journal.
How do I back up my journal entries?
Use Time Machine to back up your journal entries on Mac. Journal entries aren’t included in iCloud backups. With Time Machine backups, you have a copy of your entries to use in case your Mac is replaced, lost or damaged. See the Apple Support Article Back up your Mac with Time Machine.
Lock your journal
You can keep your journal private so only you can access it with your login password or Touch ID.
Go to the Journal app
on your Mac.
Choose Journal > Settings, then click General.
Turn on Lock Journal.
