Create a course outline in iTunes U for web
Use the Info | Outline pane to create, edit, and view the outline for the current course. The outline, or syllabus, is the hierarchical description of the course content. You can use the Info | Outline pane to create the entire course outline for your students.
The outline provides the structure and sequencing for your course, ensure it is clear, concise, and well-organized. To make sure your outline is clear and concise, organize your lessons into small units of instruction.
Create a course outline
In iTunes U for web, click Info > Outline for the course where you want to create an outline.
Click in the “1. Type or paste your outline here” field.
Enter your first-level topic, then press Return.
Enter your topics in plain text format. iTunes U does not support formatting (for example, bold, italics, and so on) in the Info | Outline pane.
Enter your next topic or Press Tab (or use the format controls) to create a second-level topic (for example, 1.1 or 1.2), enter your topic, then press Return.
Enter your next topic or Press Tab (or use the format controls) to create a third-level topic (for example, 1.1.1 or 2.1.1), then enter your topic.
Repeat steps 3 through 5 for every topic in your outline.
Choose Decimal, Alphanumeric, or None from the pop-up menu to specify the type of outline you want to create, then click Save Outline.
iTunes U saves your outline, updates the Info | Outline pane with your outline information, and displays your outline in the iTunes U catalog.
If you press Return but do not enter any text in the entry field, iTunes U cannot save the Outline. You must either enter text in the entry field or delete the empty entry field topic.
iTunes U outlines can have a maximum of three levels of topics. Press Tab (or use the format controls) to increase, or Shift-Tab decrease, a topic indent in the outline.
Note: If you used another tool to create your outline (for example, Pages), paste your entire outline into the Info | Outline pane in plain text to preserve the structure.
