Studio Bass string and position MIDI Out channels in Logic Pro for iPad
Just like with a real bass instrument, notes you play with Studio Bass have different tonal qualities when played on different strings and at different positions on the neck. When playing the Studio Bass in Logic Pro for iPad, you can use different MIDI Out channels to influence the preferred neck position and string of the notes you play. You can set the MIDI Out channel in the Track inspector for the track where Studio Bass is loaded.
MIDI Out Channel | Function | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Auto | This chooses the most natural-sounding neck position for the played note. |
2 | Prefer the E string. | Notes are played on E-string if available. If a note is not playable on the preferred string, it is played on another one based on the current position. |
3 | Prefer the A string. | Notes are played on A-string if available. If a note is not playable on the preferred string, it is played on another one based on the current position. |
4 | Prefer the D string. | Notes are played on D-string if available. If a note is not playable on the preferred string, it is played on another one based on the current position. |
5 | Prefer the G string. | Notes are played on G-string if available. If a note is not playable on the preferred string, it is played on another one based on the current position. |
7 | Move the hand position to the bottom of the neck. | If a note is not playable in this position on any string, the position is moved to the closest alternative. |
8 | Move the hand position to the 3rd fret. | If a note is not playable in this position on any string, the position is moved to the closest alternative. |
9 | Move the hand position to the 5th fret. | If a note is not playable in this position on any string, the position is moved to the closest alternative. |
10 | Move the hand position to the 7th fret. | If a note is not playable in this position on any string, the position is moved to the closest alternative. |
11 | Move the hand position to the 9th fret. | If a note is not playable in this position on any string, the position is moved to the closest alternative. |
12 | Move the hand position to the 12th fret. | If a note is not playable in this position on any string, the position is moved to the closest alternative. |
13 | Prefer notes played on the E and A strings. | If a note is not playable on either of the preferred strings, the position is moved to the closest alternative. |
14 | Prefer notes played on the D and G strings. | If a note is not playable on either of the preferred strings, the position is moved to the closest alternative. |
