Prepare an iOS device automatically in Apple Configurator on Mac
Use the Prepare Assistant in Apple Configurator 2 to prepare devices efficiently and reliably for deployment. You can quickly:
Add a configuration profile with Wi-Fi and Certificates payloads
Enroll devices with a mobile device management (MDM) solution
WARNING: Preparing devices may take a few minutes, and you shouldn’t stop the iOS installation after it starts. If you try to cancel or stop the process, Apple Configurator 2 takes the time necessary to safely terminate all operations. Don’t shut down the Mac running Apple Configurator 2 while it’s preparing devices—doing so could damage the devices.
In Apple Configurator 2 on your Mac, select the connected devices or Blueprint you want to prepare, then click the Prepare button in the toolbar.
The Prepare Assistant appears.
Click Next in the “Prepare iOS devices” screen. Follow the Help buttons if you need further clarification.
Select automated enrollment, then click Next.
Select your configuration profile with a Wi-Fi payload and (if your wireless network requires certificates) the Certificates payload, then click Next.
For automated enrollment to take place, you must provide a configuration profile that contains Wi-Fi information and, if necessary, any associated certificates. This lets the device look for a network you specified so it can contact Apple and your mobile device management (MDM) solution.
To create a configuration profile with Wi-Fi and Certificates payloads, see Create and edit configuration profiles in Apple Configurator on Mac, Certificate settings, and Wi-Fi settings.
If your mobile device management (MDM) solution supports using an enrollment user name and password, you can provide them here.
Click Prepare.
Choose Window > View Activity to follow the progress as Apple Configurator 2 prepares the devices.
