macOS Server requirements
macOS Server has processor, memory, storage, and network requirements. To install macOS Server 5.11, your Mac must:
Have macOS 11 or later installed
Have at least 4 GB of RAM
Have at least 10 GB of storage space
Additionally:
A desktop computer is recommended.
For server setup, an active connection to a secure network is recommended-but isn’t required. After setup, your server must have a network connection for users to access its services.
Some features require an ISP-configured DNS server setting so that your computer can be accessed from anywhere.
Some features require an Apple ID.
The Server app can be set up and used without a display and can be located where you don’t have constant physical access to it. To administer the Mac with Server installed remotely, you use another Mac. See Administering macOS Server remotely.
