Quantize note timing in the Score Editor in GarageBand on Mac
You can quantize, or automatically correct, the timing of notes in the Score Editor. This technique is useful when regions in the track contain the right notes, but are not perfectly in time with the project. When you quantize the timing, items are adjusted to the selected note value.
You can use the Time Quantize controls to quantize complete MIDI regions, or quantize selected notes in a MIDI region. Select the Region button to quantize all the notes in selected MIDI regions using the Time Quantize pop-up menu and strength slider. Select the Notes button to quantize individual notes using the Time Quantize pop-up menu and Q (Quantize) button.
Time quantization works nondestructively, for playback only. To recall the original timing, set the value to off.
In the Score Editor, you can also visually quantize the display of notes (independent of their MIDI time quantization) using the Grid pop-up menu, to maintain the readability of notes in the Score Editor while preserving more subtle timing differences in the recorded MIDI notes.
