Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
Symptoms
Try the following troubleshooting steps on your iPhone or iPod touch in order to resolve an application's issue.

iPhone, iTunes Store, iPod touch, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (2nd generation)
Resolution
Check to see if the issue still occurs after doing each step:
Deauthorize and reauthorize your computer
Deauthorize your computer and then reauthorize your computer. After your computer is authorized, try re-syncing your purchased application back to your device. For more information about iTunes authorizations, click here.
Install the latest iTunes
Make sure you are using iTunes 8 or later. To get the latest version of iTunes, click here.
Also make sure you are signed into your iTunes account used to purchase the application. You can check by scrolling to the bottom of the page after accessing the App Store or iTunes Music Store from your iPhone or iPod touch. If you are signed in, scroll to the bottom to see your account name displayed above the iTunes Store Terms and Conditions. If you are not signed in, "No Account" will be displayed.
To sign into the iTunes Store on your device using your computer
- Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer.
- Sign into the iTunes Store from your computer.
- Sync your iPhone or iPod touch.
If you do not have access to your computer, you can also sign in directly on your iPhone or iPod touch.
To sign into the iTunes Store directly from your iPhone or iPod touch
- Access the App Store or iTunes Store from your device.
- Purchase a free application or free song.
- Enter your account name and password when prompted.
Restart or Reset iPhone or iPod touch
Follow the steps in the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant or iPod touch Troubleshooting Assistant to resolve most common issues.
Reinstall the application
Remove the application from your iPhone or iPod touch and your iTunes library.
To remove an App Store application from your device:
- Touch and hold any application icon on the Home screen until the icons start to wiggle.
- Tap the "x" in the corner of the application you want to delete.
- Tap Delete to remove the application and all of its data from your iPhone or iPod touch.
- Press the Home button to save your arrangement.
To remove an App Store application from your iTunes library:
- Click on Applications on the left hand side of the iTunes window.
- Locate the application and either "right-click" or "Control-click" and choose Delete from the shortcut menu.
- Select "Remove" when asked if you want to remove the selected application from your iTunes library.
- Select "Move to Trash" when asked if you want to move the selected application to the Trash.
To redownload the application to your iPhone, iPod touch, or computer:
- Make sure you are signed in with the same account used for the original purchase.
- Locate the application and click the "Buy app" button or tap the price on the device.
- You will then see a dialog similar to one of the two below. Click OK to continue with the download.


Note: If you are rebilled for your download please follow the steps below to report the issue.
Tip: If you don't have access to your computer, try downloading another app (like a free one) to your device.

Report an issue
If all other troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, you can report the issue within the iTunes Store or from the App Store on your iPhone or iPod touch.
To report the issue from your iPhone or iPod touch:
- Tap Report a Problem located at near the bottom of the application's information page from the App Store.
- Select the appropriate symptom.
- Tap the Comments box to add comments.
- Tap the Report button in the upper right corner to submit your issue.
Tip: Once you tap Report, you may be required to enter your iTunes Store account name and password. You'll need to use the same account name and password used to purchase that app.
- A confirmation screen will appear. Tap Cancel to cancel the report, or tap OK to continue to the developer's support page to report the issue to the developer.
Note: If you need to report an issue with an in-app purchase, please contact the developer. The developer's contact information can be found on the application's information page from the App Store.
