How can I tell if I have the most current software installed already?

  • From the Apple () menu, choose About this Mac.
  • You should see Version 10.8.2 listed under OS X if you've updated your computer. Click "Version" to see the specific build number. If you see the following build numbers, then you are up to date.
    • MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012): 12C3103 or 12C3104.
    • Mac mini (Late 2012): 12C3103 or 12C3104.
    • iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012): 12C3103 or 12C3104.
  • If you see OS X Version 10.8.1, your computer has not been updated and you should install the latest updates from Software Update as explained above, or downloading the updates here.
