For renting and viewing directly from Apple TV

  • Widescreen Apple TV format
    • Resolution: 720 x up to 480 pixels (Movies are encoded anamorphically to increase the quality of the picture)
    • Audio: Stereo (some include Dolby Pro-Logic II Surround)
  • Many movies are available in HD (High Definition)
    • Resolution: 1280 x up to 720 pixels
    • Audio: Dolby Digital Surround 5.1 and stereo (some include Dolby Pro-Logic II Surround)

Note: Rentals from Apple TV are not transferable to any other device. You must watch the movie rental on your Apple TV.

For renting from a computer and viewing on a computer, iPod, iPhone, or Apple TV

  • iTunes format
    • Resolution: 640 x up to 480 pixels (Movies are encoded anamorphically to increase the quality of the picture)
    • Audio: Stereo (some include Dolby Pro-Logic II Surround)

Rentals may be viewed on the following devices:

  • iPod touch
  • iPod classic
  • iPod nano (3rd generation or later)
  • iPhone
  • Apple TV
  • A Mac or Windows PC with iTunes 9 or later

Note: Your device's software may need to be updated to work with movie rentals. Movie rentals are only available in select countries.
