概要
Mail は、iPhone と iPod touch のリッチ HTML メールクライアントです。Yahoo!、Google の Gmail、AOL、アップルの MobileMe など、一般的なメールシステム、そして POP3、IMAP、Microsoft Exchange といった業界標準のメールシステムのほとんどに対応しています。写真や画像も送受信でき、テキストと一緒に表示されます。PDF、Microsoft Word、Excel などの添付書類も iPhone や iPod touch で表示できます。

メールアカウントを設定する
メールのアカウント設定は簡単です。iPhone や iPod touch で初めてメールアカウントを設定する場合は、ホーム画面の「メール」アイコンをタップします。ソフトウェアバージョン 2.0 以降でアカウントを追加する場合は、ホーム画面の「設定」アイコンをタップし、「メール／連絡先／カレンダー」 > 「アカウントを追加」の順にタップします。
Microsoft Exchange、MobileMe、Gmail、Yahoo! または AOL のアカウントを設定する場合は、「アカウントを追加」画面で該当するサービスのアイコンをタップし、アカウント情報を入力します。ほかのメールアカウントを設定する場合は、「その他」を選択します。ソフトウェア 2.0 以降では、お使いのメールアドレスとパスワードを入力するだけで、一般的な POP メールや IMAP メールのアカウントが自動的に設定されます。1 入力したメールアカウントに一致する設定が見つかると、該当するアカウントに適用される制限事項を示すメッセージが表示される場合があります。アカウントが自動的に設定されない場合は、お使いのメールプロバイダのマニュアルを参照し、アカウントを手動で設定してください。
メールアカウントの設定を iPhone や iPod touch と同期する
iPhone や iPod touch とのメールアカウント設定の同期には、iTunes を使います。iTunes は、Mail (Mac)、Microsoft Outlook (2007 または 2003)、Outlook Express (PC) に 対応 しています。 詳しくは、記事「iPhone または iPod touch とコンピュータの同期に関する概要」を参照してください。
注意：iPhone や iPod touch とメールアカウントの設定を同期しても、アカウントの設定がコピーされるだけで、メッセージはコピーされません。受信箱のメッセージが iPhone や iPod touch とコンピュータの両方に表示されるかどうかは、お使いのメールアカウントの種類と設定具合によって異なります。アカウント設定を同期した後、デバイスのパスワードを入力する必要があります。
メールアカウントをお持ちでない場合
メールアカウントは、ほとんどのインターネットサービスプロバイダから有料で入手できます。アップルの MobileMe サービスでアカウントを設定することもできます。MobileMe の詳細については、www.apple.com/jp/mobileme を参照してください。
