Ways to remember passwords
If you have trouble keeping track of passwords, try these suggestions.
Use Keychain Access and keychains
You can use keychains in macOS to remember passwords for apps, servers, and websites. If an item’s password is stored in a keychain, Keychain Access can enter the password when you open the item.
If you have an iCloud account, you can use iCloud Keychain to store information for web accounts, credit cards, and Wi-Fi networks across your Mac and iOS devices. For more information, see Set up iCloud Keychain to keep information secure.
Use and remember passwords
The best way to keep your information secure is to create a secure login password. For more information, see Tips for creating secure passwords. You can also add a hint to help you remember your login password. For more information, see Add a password hint.
Recover a forgotten password
If you forget your login password, and you’re not the administrator, ask the administrator to reset your login password.
Resetting your password creates a new login keychain. Passwords and other information saved in your previous keychain are not accessible and must be reentered.
