What is iCloud Backup?
When iCloud Backup is turned on, iCloud automatically backs up the information on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch over Wi-Fi every day when the device is turned on, locked, and connected to a power source.
You can use an existing iCloud backup to set up a new device or restore information on one you already have.
Create an iCloud backup for your iOS or iPadOS device: See Back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iCloud.
Contents of an iCloud backup: Your iOS and iPadOS device backups only include data and settings stored on that device and not content stored in iCloud. See the Apple Support article What does iCloud back up?
Locate backups of your iOS and iPadOS devices: Although iCloud backups are stored in iCloud, you can’t find them on iCloud.com. See the Apple Support article Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Restore your iOS or iPadOS device: You can use an existing backup to restore or set up an iOS or iPadOS device.
Apple Watch content is backed up automatically to your paired iPhone. See the Apple Support article Back up your Apple Watch. You can back up your Mac using Time Machine or store files in iCloud. See the Apple Support site Back up your Mac.
