After installing Apple Remote Desktop 3.3 or earlier from a disc, the application may stop responding during or after setup in OS X Mavericks. Use these steps to troubleshoot.

  1. If Apple Remote Desktop 3 is running, quit or force quit it.

  2. Use the Mac App Store's Update tab to update the Apple Remote Desktop application.

  3. After updating, open the Apple Remote Desktop application.

  4. Enter the serial number that was included with your disc's inbox materials when prompted.
