
Find text in log messages and reports in Console on Mac
You can search for specific text in log messages or reports you’re viewing.
Note: If you’re not logged in as an administrator, you need to enter an administrator name and password to view log messages.
- In the Console app  on your Mac, press Command-F, type a word or phrase in the search field, then press Return. on your Mac, press Command-F, type a word or phrase in the search field, then press Return.
- Do any of the following: - Go to the next or previous instance in the results: Click the arrow buttons. 
- Clear the search field: Click the Close button  . .
- Set options for the current search: Click the Search Options button  in the search field, then select or deselect items in the pop-up menu. For example, to find text that exactly matches the capitalization of your search term, deselect Ignore Case. in the search field, then select or deselect items in the pop-up menu. For example, to find text that exactly matches the capitalization of your search term, deselect Ignore Case.- You can also search for special characters and text patterns, such as an email address or white space. Click the Search Options button  , choose Insert Pattern from the pop-up menu, then select an item in the list. , choose Insert Pattern from the pop-up menu, then select an item in the list.- To search for a sequence of items (for example, a web address, then a white space), add one item to the search field, choose Insert Pattern again, then add another item. 
 
- When you’re finished, click Done.
