Set up emergency alerts for Japan on iPhone
Learn how to set up emergency alerts on your iPhone or Apple Watch in Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency and the Japanese government provide the alerts.
Set up emergency alerts
To get earthquake alerts, tsunami alerts, and other disaster information on your iPhone or Apple Watch,* follow these steps:
Tap Settings > Notifications.
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
Tap Emergency Alerts to turn them on or off.
* Alerts are supported when using a SIM card from a supported carrier. Alerts sent to your device are translated into the language that you have set on your device. Your Apple Watch can receive these alerts if your iPhone can receive them and is nearby, or your Apple Watch is on a Wi-Fi network. With a cellular plan from a supported carrier, your Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + cellular) or later can receive these alerts without your iPhone nearby. For more information, contact your carrier.
