Manage printers and print jobs with Print Centre on Mac
In Print Centre on your Mac, you can manage your print jobs, view different printer queues, and pause or delete print jobs as needed. Print Centre opens automatically when you send a print job to your printer, or you can open Print Centre manually in the Utilities folder. When Print Centre opens, you see the status of printers you added to your Mac and the current print jobs.
Important: If you see an alert that your printer is offline, you may need to solve a problem with the printer before you can print.
Pause, resume or cancel printing
In Print Centre on your Mac, do any of the following:
Pause or resume a print job: Select the print job, then click

Pause or resume all print jobs on a printer: Select the printer in the sidebar, then click

in the toolbar.
Delete a print job: Select the print job, then click
.
View information about completed print jobs
After you print, you can view information about a document you printed, such as the time and date.
In Print Centre
on your Mac, choose Window > Completed Jobs.
Set up and manage printers
In Print Centre on your Mac, you can set up and manage printers. Do any of the following:
Open Print Centre: Print Centre opens automatically when you send a print job to a printer. To open Print Centre manually, double-click the Print Centre icon in the Utilities folder of the Applications folder.
Add a printer: Choose Printer > Add Printer to set up a new printer to use. See Add and manage printers on Mac.
Set a default printer: Select the printer in the sidebar, then choose Printer > Make Default.
Add a printer’s icon to the Dock: Choose Printer > Add to Dock. You can add a printer’s icon to the Dock and then drag files (such as PDFs and image files) to the icon to quickly print a document.
Remove a printer: Select the printer in the sidebar, then choose Printer > Remove Printer.
Show printer options: Select the printer in the sidebar, choose Printer > Printer Info, then click the Options tab.
Show printer supplies: Select the printer in the sidebar, choose Printer > Printer Info, then click the Supply Levels tab. .
Print a test page: Select the printer in the sidebar, then choose Printer > Print Test Page.
Check printer status in the Dock
When you print, the Print Centre icon appears in the Dock with a badge that indicates the printer’s status. Click the icon to open Print Centre, where you can pause, resume or cancel jobs.
Red badge: The printer is printing. The badge shows the number of print jobs in the queue.
Green badge with a pause symbol: The printer is paused. If you print, you’re asked whether to resume printing or queue the job for later.
Yellow badge: The printer has a problem to fix — for example, a paper jam or a need for ink, toner or paper. You may need to resume printing after you resolve it.
