About OS X Server v5.1.7

Learn about changes included in the OS X Server v5.1.7 update.

OS X Server v5.1.7 updates all minor versions of OS X Server v5.0 and v5.1.

You must have OS X v10.11.6 to update to OS X Server v5.1.7. If your Mac uses a version of OS X earlier than v10.11.6, you must upgrade to OS X v10.11.6 to use OS X Server v5.1.7.

How to update

On a Mac running OS X v10.11.6, update to OS X Server v5.1.7 from the Updates pane of the Mac App Store. Server updates aren't installed automatically, even if you've chosen to install other updates automatically from the Mac App Store. Updating manually prevents the interruption of service

During installation, you might see the message "Server app replacement detected." This message is a normal part of the update process. Server preserves all settings and data during the update.

After installation is complete, open Server app to finish setting up your previously configured services.

This release includes the following changes:

Profile Manager

  • Fixed an issue affecting Server installations configured with a third-party SSL certificate that prevented MDM enrollment using DEP.

If you are using a third-party SSL certificate with Profile Manager, your devices might display a “NSURLErrorDomain error -1012” error message during MDM enrollment.

To fix this error, update your Profile Manager server to OS X Server v5.1.7. Then, restore affected devices to factory settings. For iOS devices, use iTunes or Apple Configurator. For OS X devices, boot to Recovery or from a bootable installer and reinstall the OS.
