Resolve Google Workspace user account sync conflicts in Apple Business
Overview
When you first use Google Workspace to sync user accounts into Apple Business, Auto Merge needs to be disabled and all user account conflicts need to be resolved manually.
Important: If Auto Merge is turned on, new accounts are merged with existing user accounts in Apple Business.
If you disconnect from Google Workspace and reconnect, you can choose whether to merge the Google Workspace user accounts. After all the user accounts are synced to Apple Business, you can choose to disable Auto Merge to avoid any user account merge issues.
How do sync conflicts occur?
Sync conflicts can occur in one of the following ways:
The Google Workspace Sync connection was disconnected and connected back again, and an Apple Business user account was imported using Google Workspace Sync.
An Apple Business user account has a Person ID value and a Managed Apple Account that matches a Google Workspace user name you’re attempting to import using Google Workspace Sync.
Manually resolve Google Workspace user account sync conflicts
If you have a conflicting user account with Google Workspace, you can manually resolve the conflict.
In Apple Business, sign in with a user whose role has permissions to set up and configure federation and connect to an identity provider (IdP).
To view roles and permissions, see Intro to roles and permissions.
In the Domains section, select Manage next to the domain that has the sync conflicts.
Under Google Workspace Sync section, carefully read the Account Conflict message, then select Resolve.
Select Download Conflicts to download a list of account conflicts, then review the conflicts.
If the conflicting accounts are identical to each other in Google Workspace and Apple Business, select Merge.
