Send your Mac to Apple for service
After you’ve contacted Apple for service*, you’ll receive a kit that contains everything you need to return your product to Apple.
Before you send your Mac for service
In macOS 27 or later, turn on Ready for Repair or Trade-In for your Mac.
In macOS 26 or earlier, turn off Find My Mac. If you can’t use your Mac to turn off Find My, use another device to remove your Mac from iCloud on icloud.com/find.
If your Mac with Apple silicon and macOS Tahoe 26 or later was previously repaired, or you’re not sure, use Repair Assistant to check for an unfinished repair.
If your Intel-based Mac has been set up with a firmware password, turn off the firmware password, if possible. This does not apply to Mac computers with Apple silicon.
If you're concerned about the security of your data during service, either turn on FileVault or remove your data, such as by erasing all content and settings.
Pack your Mac
The kit that you received from Apple has everything that you need to pack up your Mac — including the box to ship it and the return shipping label. To pack your Mac, follow the steps printed inside the lid of the box.
Don’t include anything else in the box — like power adapter, power cable, SD card(s), keyboard protector, bottom cover, display cover, or any other accessories. If you do, they won’t be returned to you.
Ship your product to Apple
Find the name of the courier on the provided shipping label (or elsewhere in the packing materials).
Visit the courier’s website to schedule a pickup or find a drop-off location.
If a commercial invoice was included, attach it to the outside of the box. If you don’t, the package might not be able to be delivered. Commercial invoices are only necessary in some European countries.
Make sure to get proof of collection from the courier to confirm that you’ve sent your product for service. Apple is not responsible for any damage during shipping.
*Send in service may not be available in all countries or regions.
