Keep webpage bookmarks in the Safari bookmarks bar

The Safari bookmarks bar is a good place to keep bookmarks for webpages you frequently visit. It’s near the top of the Safari window, and has the bookmarks list icon (open-book) and Reading List icon (eyeglasses) on the left side.

Add bookmarks to the bookmarks bar

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open, and then go to the webpage you want to bookmark. If you use tabs, you can open multiple webpages in tabs to bookmark them as a collection.
  2. Choose Bookmarks > Add Bookmark, or Bookmarks > “Add Bookmark for These Tabs.”
  3. In the dialog that appears, type a name for the bookmark or collection.
  4. Open the pop-up menu and choose Bookmarks Bar, and then click Add.

To add a bookmark quickly, click the Add (+) button in the toolbar, or drag the webpage’s icon from the address field to the bookmarks bar.

Rearrange bookmarks in the bookmarks bar

Drag the bookmarks to their new positions in the Safari bookmarks bar.

Remove a bookmark

Drag the bookmark above the Safari bookmarks bar and release the mouse button.
