If your iPhone or iPad is running slow
If your iPhone or iPad freezes or has performance issues, try these tips.
Check your network conditions
Apps often need an internet connection, and slow performance can occur due to network congestion or when a device reconnects to cell towers while moving. Even with a strong signal, you might need to wait, try a different location, or use Wi-Fi. If cellular data issues persist across multiple locations, contact your carrier.

Close an app that's not responding
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or double-click the Home button on older device models).
Find the app.
Swipe up on its preview to close the app.
Force closing apps unnecessarily can slow down your device. Reopening a closed app takes longer because it has to reload all its data.
Check your device's available storage
iOS and iPadOS automatically manage storage during app installs and updates. They remove items that you can download again or no longer need. To avoid slowdowns, maintain at least 1 GB of free space.
Go to Settings.
Tap General.
Tap [device] Storage.
Offload or delete apps to free up storage
iOS and iPadOS list your apps on the [device] Storage screen along with the amount of space that they use. iOS and iPadOS offer storage-saving recommendations on the [device] Storage screen.
You can enable these recommendations or review apps to free up more space. If you don't see any recommendations, or if you need to free up even more space, review the apps on your device.
Tap an app, then choose from the options1:
Offload the app, which frees up storage used by the app, but keeps its documents and data.
Delete the app, which removes the app and its related data.
Turn off Low Power Mode
Low Power Mode is a feature that helps extend battery life by reducing how much power your device uses. When enabled, Low Power Mode disables certain features or makes them work slower, and the battery icon turns yellow.
Low Power Mode can be turned on by going to Settings and tapping Battery. If you need your iPhone or iPad to function without low-power restrictions, consider leaving Low Power Mode off.
Keep your device from getting too hot or cold
When your iOS or iPadOS device gets too hot or cold, it might run slower. To fix this, move it to a more moderate temperature.
Check operating temperature limits.
Check your battery health
All rechargeable batteries are parts that wear out over time. Over time, your iPhone or iPad battery loses capacity and peak performance. Eventually, you'll need to replace it.
If a battery needs to be replaced, iOS and iPadOS can show battery health and recommend replacement.
Go to Settings.
Tap Battery.
Tap Battery Health.

A touch screen that responds to taps incorrectly can make your device seem slow. If you think that your touch screen isn't responding correctly, try restarting your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If your iPhone or iPad touch screen still isn't responding, you might need service. Get service.
Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of its documents and data.
