StyleWriter II: Compatibility and Performance

This article provides compatibility information for the StyleWriter II.
This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.
Software Compatibility

The StyleWriter II requires System 7, or System 6.0.7/6.0.8 with the TrueType INIT installed. The TrueType INIT is included with the StyleWriter II printer drivers. Color Macintosh computers must have 32-bit QuickDraw to work properly.

The StyleWriter II can use Adobe Type 1 and TrueType fonts, including fonts in a two-byte format. Adobe Type 1 fonts require the use of Adobe Type Manager

Performance

For best performance, Macintosh systems should have more than 2MB of RAM with System 6.0.7/6.0.8, or more than 4MB of RAM with System 7.

As with the StyleWriter printer, the StyleWriter II's performance is directly related to the type of Macintosh used and the complexity of the document. As a general rule, the faster the CPU and the simpler the document, the faster the StyleWriter II will print.
