iSync: First and last name fields show up as dots or dashes on phone

When syncing with some phones, including Sony Ericsson phones, if you have a contact in your Address Book that contains a company name, but no first or last name, this contact will appear to have dots or hyphens for a first and last name when viewed on the phone. For example, ". . Apple Computer" or "- - Apple Computer".

This means the phone requires a first and last name field to be filled. Any version of iSync realizes this, so it adds a dot or hyphen to each blank name field for you. You don't have to do anything else—it's just something to be aware of.
