AirPort Utility 6.x: Set up a new AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule
When you plug in a new AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule, the device is displayed in the Wi-Fi menu using the name of the device, such as AirPort Extreme or AirPort Time Capsule.
When you choose the device from the Wi-Fi menu, AirPort Utility opens. You can use the Setup Assistant in AirPort Utility to configure your device and set up your Wi-Fi network.
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the base station, and to your DSL or cable modem, or to a network device that’s connected to the Internet.
- Plug your new AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule into a wall outlet.
- After the base station starts up, select it from the Wi-Fi menu, then use the Setup Assistant in AirPort Utility to set up your base station and Wi-Fi network.

Set up your base station or AirPort Time Capsule to create a new network, join an existing network, or replace a device already on your network.

Provide a name for your network and base station.

Provide a password for your network and base station. Deselect “Use a single password” if you want to use a different password for your network and your base station.

Set up a guest network with or without a password.
