iCal 5.x: Delete a calendar or reminder list
You can delete any of the calendars, groups of calendars, or reminder lists displayed in iCal. For example, if you want to stop subscribing to a calendar or stop viewing a calendar someone shared with you, delete it.
Deleting a calendar removes the calendar and all the events it contains from your computer. Deleting a reminder list removes the list and all the reminders it contains from your computer (reminder lists are available in Mac OS X version 10.7.2 or later).
If you delete a calendar that includes an event with invitees, iCal will notify them that the event has been canceled.
If you delete a calendar or reminder list that you shared with others, iCal will notify them that the calendar or reminder list is no longer being shared. If you want to stop sharing a calendar or reminder list but don’t want to delete it, you can stop sharing it.
If you delete a calendar or reminder list that you published on MobileMe or on a WebDAV server, you can no longer make changes to the published calendar or reminder list. To make changes to a published calendar or reminder list that you deleted, re-create the calendar or reminder list, give it the same name as the published calendar or reminder list, and then publish the new calendar or reminder list. The new calendar or reminder list replaces the previously published one.
If you want to stop publishing a calendar or reminder list but don’t want to delete it from your computer, you can unpublish it.
Delete a calendar or calendar group
- Click Calendars (in the top-left corner of the iCal window), and then select the calendar or calendar group you want to delete by clicking its name in the Calendars pop-up list.
- Choose Edit > Delete.
Deleting a calendar group deletes all the calendars contained in the group.
Delete a reminder list
- Click Reminders (below the search field in the iCal window), and then select the reminder list you want to delete by clicking its name in the Reminders list. (If you don’t see the Reminders list, choose View > Show Reminders.)
- Choose Edit > Delete.
Delete all calendars and reminder lists from a server account
- In iCal, choose iCal > Preferences, and then click Accounts.
- If you have more than one server account, select the one that contains the calendars and reminder lists you want to delete, and then click Remove (-). Note: If you delete an iCloud Calendar account, the iCloud Calendar service will be turned off in iCloud preferences and Mail, Contacts & Calendars preferences. At any time, you can turn the iCloud Calendar service back on in System preferences or set up your iCloud Calendar account in iCal and your iCloud calendars and reminders will reappear in iCal, up to date. Any devices or other computers using the iCloud Calendar service will continue to have your most recent iCloud calendar information.
