Keynote for iPad: Add transitions between slides

Add transitions between slides

Transitions are visual effects that play as you move from one slide to the next. For example, the Push transition makes a slide appear to push the previous slide off the screen. You can add a transition between any two slides in your presentation.

  1. In the slide navigator, tap the slide you want to add a transition to.

The transition will play after this slide as you move to the next one.

  2. Tap the slide again, then tap Transition.

  3. Tap Add Transition at the bottom of the screen, then tap a transition (scroll to see them all).

A preview of the transition plays.

  4. Tap the Back button.

  5. To set the duration, direction, and other settings, tap the transition at the bottom of the screen.

The options you see depend on the transition you added.

Controls in the Options pane for modifying a transition.

If you set a transition to start automatically, it begins playing immediately after you advance the previous slide.

  6. Tap Done in the top-right corner of the screen.

To see at a glance which slides have transitions, tap the More button, then tap Transitions and Builds. In the slide navigator, any slide with a transition has a yellow marker in the corner. To change a slide transition, tap the slide in the slide navigator, tap the transition at the bottom of the screen, then tap Change. Tap a new transition.

A yellow triangle on a slide indicates the slide has a transition.

To remove the transition, tap the More button, then tap Transitions and Builds. Tap the slide in the slide navigator, tap it again, then tap Delete Animation.

Tip: To quickly apply the same transition to multiple slides, select the slides in the slide navigator, then tap Transition. Tap Add Transition at the bottom of the screen, then tap a transition.
