Keynote for iPad: Add video and audio
You can add video to a slide. When you show the slide during a presentation, the video starts playing when you tap, or you can set the video to start automatically when the slide appears. You can also add a soundtrack that plays for the entire presentation.
You can’t add audio to a slide using iPad, but if you use Keynote on a Mac to add audio to a slide, you can adjust the audio playback on iPad.
Add an existing video
When you add a video file to a slide, the video plays only when that slide is showing in your presentation.

Do one of the following:

Tap where you want to insert the video, tap
, then tap

Tap
in the bottom-right corner of an image placeholder.

Tap an album, or tap “Insert from” below the albums.

Tap the video you want to add (you may have to tap a folder first), then tap Use.
If you’re inserting a video from iCloud or another service, you need to tap folders to find the video.
Take video in Keynote and add it to a presentation
If your device has a camera, you can take video and insert it directly into your presentation.

Tap where you want to add the video.

Tap
, then tap

Tap “Take a Photo or Video” below the albums.

Take the video, then do one of the following:

Insert the video: Tap Use Video.

Take the video again: Tap Retake.

Cancel and return to the presentation: Tap Retake, then tap Cancel.

Drag the video to reposition it.
You can’t edit the video in Keynote. The video is available in the Photos app on your device.
Replace a video

Tap the video on the slide.

Tap
, then tap Movie. -
Tap Replace.

Do one of the following:

Tap “Take a Photo or Video” below the albums, take the video, then tap either Use Video or Retake.

Tap an album, or tap “Insert from” below the albums, tap the video you want, (you may have to tap a folder first), then tap Use.

Adjust media playback
You can set video and audio to repeat in a loop, and you can set when to start playing video and audio.

Tap the video or audio on the slide.
Note: You can’t add audio to your presentation in Keynote for iOS, but you can add audio in Keynote for Mac then adjust audio playback on iPad. -
Tap
, tap Movie or Audio, then tap an option: -
None: The video or audio plays one time, then stops.

Loop: The video or audio plays continuously until the slide advances.

Loop Back & Forth: The video or audio repeatedly plays forward then backward until the slide advances.

To have the video or audio play when you tap it, turn on “Start on Tap.” If you want the video or audio to play automatically when the slide appears, turn off “Start on Tap.”
Add a soundtrack to a presentation
When you add a soundtrack to your presentation, the audio begins playing when the presentation starts. If there are slides that already have audio or video, the soundtrack also plays on those slides.
A file added as a soundtrack always plays from its beginning.

Tap
, then tap Presentation Tools. -
Tap Soundtrack, tap Choose Audio, then tap a song to add it.
To add more music, tap Add More Tracks.

Tap Loop to have the soundtrack repeat until the presentation ends; tap Off to turn off the soundtrack.
You may need to swipe up to see these options.
Some media files are protected under copyright law. Some downloaded media may be played only on the device where the download occurred. DRM (digital rights management) protected music can’t be added to the presentation soundtrack.
