Sharing preferences

If you’re on a local network (at home or in an office, for example), you can share your iPhoto library so that other people on the network can view your photos on their computers. You can limit viewable photos to specific albums, and you can require a password to view your photos. You can also drag photos from a shared library into your library.

Explanation

Look for shared photos

Select to display other shared libraries in your iPhoto Source list.

Share my photos

Select so that others on your local network can view your photos on their computers, using iPhoto.

Selecting this checkbox enables all the remaining options for sharing photos.

To stop sharing your photos over the network, deselect this checkbox.

Share entire library

Select to make all your photos viewable on your local network.

Share selected albums

Select to limit viewable photos to specific albums (select the albums you want to share).

Shared name

This label is what others see in their Source list when they look for shared libraries.

Require password

To have people type a password before they can view your photos, select this checkbox and type the password.

Status

If your photos are currently being shared, the status is On. If you’re currently not sharing any photos, the status is Off.
