iCloud: Share your location with friends
Use the Find My Friends app on an iOS device to share your location. After you share your location, you can ask to follow friends and see their locations on iCloud.com.
Share your location
To share your location, you need to use the Find My Friends app on an iOS device.
On your iOS device, open Find My Friends, then tap Add.
Tap in the To field, then enter a contact’s name, email address, or phone number. Tap Return after each entry.
If your friend is nearby, you can share your location with AirDrop. Instead of entering a contact’s name, tap the device below the To field.
Tap Send, then tap Share for One Hour, Share Until End of Day, or Share Indefinitely.
In the Find My Friends app on an iOS device, the friend appears in your Friends list with the label “is a Follower.” To ask to see your friend’s location, tap the friend, then tap Ask to Follow.
Select the device sharing your location
If you’re using Find My Friends on multiple devices, choose which device you want to represent your location. You can follow friends on each of your devices, but friends can follow only one of your devices.
On an iOS device: Open Find My Friends, tap Me, then turn on Share My Location if it is not turned on. Tap the device that you want followed below “Share My Location from,” then tap Done.
On a computer: Go to Find My Friends on iCloud.com, click Me, then select the Share My Location checkbox if it is not selected. Click the “Share My Location from” pop-up menu, choose a device, then click Done.
Note: If you only see Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Settings on iCloud.com, your account just has access to iCloud web-only features. To gain access to other iCloud features, set up iCloud on your iOS device or Mac.
Stop sharing your location
If you don’t want anyone to know your location, you can turn off the Share My Location setting. When Share My Location is off, friends and anyone else following you can’t see you, but you can still see friends and anyone else you’re following.
On an iOS device: Open Find My Friends, tap Me, turn off Share My Location, then tap Done.
On a computer: Go to Find My Friends on iCloud.com, click Me, deselect the Share My Location checkbox, then click Done.
Location Not Available appears below your name in Find My Friends on your followers’ devices, as if your device is turned off, in airplane mode, or just offline.
