Contacts (El Capitan): Make phone calls from Contacts

Make phone calls from Contacts

If you have an iPhone with iOS 8 or later nearby, you can make phone calls from your Mac using Contacts. Calls are relayed through your iPhone, but you use your Mac microphone and speakers to communicate. Phone calls use cellular minutes. Cellular charges may apply.

Note: To make a phone call from your Mac, you must have an iCloud account, and your iPhone and Mac need to be on the same Wi-Fi network and signed in with the same Apple ID. For more information, see Use your Mac to make and receive phone calls.

  1. Select a contact.

  2. Click the Audio button .
