Save your movie to iTunes using QuickTime Player

You can add a movie to your iTunes library to share it with other devices that use iTunes. When you add a movie to iTunes, QuickTime Player converts it to a format compatible with specific devices.

  1. Open the movie in QuickTime Player.

  2. Choose File > Export > iTunes.

  3. Choose the size of the exported movie, then click Share.

    You can only choose a size supported by the movie’s current resolution. If you want your movie to be compatible with a specific device, use the following specifications:

    • iPod and iPhone: iPod touch (3rd generation) and iPhone 3GS. MPEG video 3.0 Mbit/s H.264.

    • iPad, iPhone 4, and Apple TV: iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), and Apple TV (2nd generation). MPEG video 7 Mbit/s H.264, with up to 720p HD resolution.

    • iPad 2, iPhone 5, and Apple TV: iPad 2, iPhone 5, iPod touch (5th generation), and Apple TV (3rd generation). MPEG video 10 Mbit/s H.264, with up to 1080p HD resolution.
