OS X El Capitan: New user or group setup

New user or group setup

Enter information to add a new user or group.

New Account

Choose the type of account you want to set up:

Full Name

The full name for a user or group.

Account name

An account name is generated automatically for users. You can change the account name now, but you can’t change it after setting up the account.

The account name is used to name the user’s home folder, and it can also be used as the login name.

Use iCloud password

The user logs in to this Mac using the password for the Apple ID he or she uses to sign in to iCloud.com. This password is used in Settings > iCloud on the user’s iOS devices and in iCloud preferences on the user’s other Mac computers.

If you select this option, enter the user’s Apple ID (for example, emilyparker5@yahoo.com) in the iCloud ID field.

Use separate password

The user logs in to this Mac using a password that isn’t connected to the Apple ID they use with iCloud.

If you select this option, enter a password for the user in the Required and Verify fields, then enter a hint that can help the user remember the password.

Create User or Create Group

To finish setting up a new user, click Create User. To finish setting up a new group, click Create Group.
