OS X El Capitan: Use a PPP connection terminal script

Use a PPP connection terminal script

Some ISPs may require a PPP connection terminal script to connect to the Internet using a modem. Contact your ISP for the terminal script.

  1. In the Finder, hold down the Option key, then choose Go > Library.

  2. If the Library folder does not contain a Terminal Scripts folder, you need to create it. Choose File > New Folder, then name the new folder Terminal Scripts.

  3. Copy the terminal script file from your ISP to the Terminal Scripts folder.

  4. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.

  5. Choose your modem service from the network connection services list, then click Advanced.

  6. Click PPP, click the Settings pop-up menu, then choose Configuration.

  7. Click the Terminal Scripts pop-up menu, then choose your connection script.

  8. Click OK, then click Apply.

If the Terminal Scripts pop-up menu is dimmed, then the script is not being recognized. Check that the script is valid and that it’s installed in the correct location.
