iCloud: Use iCloud Photo Library on your Mac

Use iCloud Photo Library on your Mac

With the Photos app, you can use iCloud Photo Library on your Mac (OS X v10.10.3 or later) to automatically upload your entire library to iCloud. Any edits you make are updated across all your devices. And because iCloud Photo Library always stores your original, full-size photos and videos in iCloud, you can choose to keep smaller versions on your device to save space.

You can use the Photos app to access iCloud Photo Library on your Mac and to do the following:

  • Turn iCloud Photo Library on or off

  • Optimize storage on your Mac

  • Delete photos or videos from iCloud Photo Library

  • Recover deleted photos or videos

  • Upload photos to iCloud Photo Library

For more information, see Access your photos and videos everywhere with iCloud Photo Library in Photos Help for Mac.

You can also do much more with the Photos app on your Mac to organize, edit, and enjoy your photo library. For more information, see What is Photos? in Photos Help for Mac.
