You can restore a disk image to a disk. To do this you first need to erase the disk. If the disk image has multiple partitions, you must restore each partition individually.

Restore a disk image with a single partition to a disk

  1. Select a disk in the sidebar, then click Restore.

  2. Drag the disk image to the Source field.

    You can drag the disk image from the list at the left, the Finder, or a web browser.

  3. Drag the disk that will hold the contents of the disk image to the Destination field.

  4. Click the Restore button.

Restore a disk image with multiple partitions to a disk

To restore a disk image with multiple partitions to a disk, you must partition the destination disk, then restore each partition individually.

  1. Open the disk image by double-clicking it in the Finder.

    The disk image’s partitions appear as disks in the Finder.

  2. Select the disk in the sidebar, then click Partition and partition the destination disk.

    The destination disk must have as many partitions as the disk image, and each of the disk’s partitions must be at least as large as the corresponding partition in the disk image. For more information about partitions, see Partition a disk

  3. Click Restore, then drag a disk image partition from the sidebar to the Source field.

  4. Drag the corresponding disk partition from the sidebar to the Destination field.

  5. Click Restore.

  6. Repeat steps 3–6 for each remaining partition.
