Find My Friends: Set restrictions

Set restrictions

You can set up restrictions for Find My Friends on your iOS device so that anyone else who uses it can’t:

  • Accept or decline new requests to be followed

  • Share locations with new friends or remove existing friends

  • Hide from followers

For example, if you’re a parent, you can limit the people who follow your child’s location.

  1. On the device you want to restrict, tap Find My Friends.

  2. If you want, share your location or remove followers now, because you can’t after you restrict the device.

If you’re a parent restricting your child’s device, you might want to share your child’s location with yourself, for example.

  3. Press the Home button on the device to go to the Home screen.

  4. Go to Settings > General > Restrictions > Enable Restrictions. If you see Disable Restrictions, you’ve already set up restrictions.

  5. Enter a passcode (or the existing passcode) to protect, or change, restriction settings.

Note: If you’re restricting your child’s access to Find My Friends, don’t use the passcode your child uses to unlock the device.

  6. Tap Share My Location below Privacy, then tap Don’t Allow Changes.

After you set up restrictions for Find My Friends, you can't disable Location Services on that device. However, you can enable Location Services if it wasn’t on before you set restrictions.
