Mail (Yosemite): What’s new in Mail?
Mark up attachments
Use Markup to add shapes and text to images or PDF documents that you include in your messages. You can use the Markup tools, or draw and write freehand using your trackpad. You can sign your name using the trackpad, or snap a photo of your signature using the camera on your Mac.

Send large attachments using Mail Drop
You can use Mail Drop to send large attachments (such as videos, presentations, or a folder of photos). Mail Drop automatically uploads the attachments to iCloud. If recipients use Mail in OS X Yosemite, the attachments are automatically downloaded and shown in the message. If recipients use other email apps, they see a link to download the attachments from iCloud.

Use Handoff to pass email between your Mac and iOS device
When you’re signed into your iCloud account on your Mac with OS X Yosemite and on your devices with iOS 8, and they’re near each other, they can pass whatever you’re doing in Mail between them. For example, you can start writing an email on your iPhone, then finish it on your Mac; just click the Mail Handoff icon in the Dock on your Mac to see your message in Mail and pick up where you left off.
Show nicknames and short names
If you set preferences in the Contacts app to show short names and nicknames when they’re available, then those names will also be shown for your contacts in Mail.
Export images to Aperture
If you installed the Aperture app on your Mac, you can export photos and other images you receive in Mail directly to Aperture.
