OS X Yosemite: Dock preferences
Use Dock preferences to change the size of the icons in the Dock, reposition or hide the Dock, and more. To open Dock preferences, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Dock.
| Size | Drag the slider to change the Dock size. |
| Magnification | Select to magnify icons when the pointer is over them. Drag the slider to choose the magnification size. |
| Position on screen | Choose a location for the Dock. |
| Minimize windows using | Choose the visual effect used when you minimize a window. |
| Double-click a window’s title bar to minimize | Select to minimize an app window to the Dock by double-clicking its title bar. Deselect to expand an app window to fill the space between the Dock and the menu bar by double-clicking its title bar. If the Dock is on the side of your screen, the window expands to fill the space below the menu bar and to the side of the Dock. |
| Minimize windows into application icon | Determine how windows behave when you minimize them. Select to minimize windows to app icons in the Dock. Deselect to minimize windows to thumbnails in the Dock. |
| Animate opening applications | Make icons bounce when you open apps. |
| Automatically hide and show the Dock | Hide the Dock when you’re not using it. To see the hidden Dock, move the pointer to the side of the screen where it’s located. |
| Show indicators for open applications | Have a small dot appear below the icons for open apps. |
