Boot Camp: Solve Windows support software installation problems

Solve Windows support software installation problems

If the Windows support software doesn’t install successfully, your hardware may not work as expected.

Install or repair the Windows support software

  1. Start up your Mac in Windows.
  2. Connect the external USB drive that has the Windows support software.
  3. Open Windows Explorer (in Windows 7) or File Explorer (in Windows 8), browse to your external USB drive (listed under Computer on the left), then double-click the setup.exe file in the BootCamp folder.
  4. Click Install or Repair, then follow the onscreen instructions.

If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.

Reinstall a specific driver

If you need to reinstall specific drivers, you can install one driver at a time. For example, if the built-in camera on your Mac isn’t working, you can reinstall just the camera driver.

Individual drivers are in the BootCamp/Drivers/ folder on the external USB drive that has the Windows support software.

  1. Start up your Mac in Windows.
  2. Insert the external USB drive that has the Windows support software.
  3. Using Windows Explorer (in Windows 7) or File Explorer (in Windows 8), locate the driver that you want to reinstall.
  4. Open the driver to start the installation.
