Boot Camp: Solve Windows support software installation problems
If the Windows support software doesn’t install successfully, your hardware may not work as expected.
Install or repair the Windows support software
- Start up your Mac in Windows.
- Connect the external USB drive that has the Windows support software.
- Open Windows Explorer (in Windows 7) or File Explorer (in Windows 8), browse to your external USB drive (listed under Computer on the left), then double-click the setup.exe file in the BootCamp folder.
- Click Install or Repair, then follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Reinstall a specific driver
If you need to reinstall specific drivers, you can install one driver at a time. For example, if the built-in camera on your Mac isn’t working, you can reinstall just the camera driver.
Individual drivers are in the BootCamp/Drivers/ folder on the external USB drive that has the Windows support software.
- Start up your Mac in Windows.
- Insert the external USB drive that has the Windows support software.
- Using Windows Explorer (in Windows 7) or File Explorer (in Windows 8), locate the driver that you want to reinstall.
- Open the driver to start the installation.
